State Of The Union, Part 2

So, regular readers of this blog know that I have suffered from a little burn out. And it’s not just this that has dropped – I write for many different places (well, for is maybe too strong a word) and it has all slowed to a nothing as well. I thought the spark had come back when I decided to write the Billy Madison SoC review the other day, and it was during that watch, I realised the main reason why I have fallen off here – there doesn’t seem to be a whole hell of a lot that I am in the mood to watch at the moment.

“But”, I hear you say, astonished, “are you not the Rain Man of movies?”

That I am, and I remain so. But I think I’ve been burned out on watching so many movies (130 for the year so far), which has affected my writing here, and in turn affected my writing elsewhere. So, I think I am going to reassess just how I write here – maybe work on cutting down my overall wordcount per review; I originally tried to get over 700 each review (sometimes it was a hell of a lot easier than others). Maybe I’ll bust out a few rapid fire reviews, get myself back into the swing of things. Hopefully that works. Maybe I’ll break my own rules and open it up to the occasional TV review. Hell, I might even see if I can get a video or audio thing happening – the kids seem to like the podcasts, so why not jump on that bandwagon, I say.

Either way, my burnout is going to come to an end pretty soon. It has to.

  1. Well whatever gets you going again can only be good. Burnout happens but you of all people will get the urge again to write movie reviews. You breathe movies. Well i'm not sure if breathe is the right word, might hurt a lot. But still the point is don't worry about the burnout cause you'll be back.
